mental health concerns, substance use, dual diagnosis, and neurodivergence

Sliding Scale Fees

I believe that everyone deserves access to quality dietetic care, regardless of their financial situation. To help make my services accessible, I offer a sliding scale fee structure. This means that the amount you pay can be adjusted based on your financial circumstances.

Medicare Referrals

If you have a Medicare referral, you can choose from the following options:

  • Bulk Billing: No out-of-pocket costs. For those on a low income or who receive an income support payment such as JobSeeker or the Disability Support Pension.

  • $30 Gap Fee: A moderate out-of-pocket cost. Suitable if you can contribute a little more to your care.

  • $50 Gap Fee: A higher out-of-pocket cost. Choose this option if you're financially secure and want to support the sliding scale for others.

Private Paying Clients (Without Medicare Referral)

For clients paying privately, I offer four tiers to suit different financial situations. Prices are per 60 minute session.

  • Tier 1 - $90: For people experiencing financial hardship, or who have a disability that impacts on capacity to work.

  • Tier 2 - $120: If you have a stable income but still face financial challenges or have other significant expenses.

  • Tier 3 - $150: Choose this option if you’re financially comfortable and can afford to contribute more to your care.

  • Tier 4 - $175: For those who are financially secure and wish to support the sliding scale for others.

While income should not the sole factor in deciding which fee to select (see Choosing a Payment Option), this is a guideline for which tier might apply to you: Tier 1: Below $50K. Tier 2: $50K–$75K. Tier 3: $75K–100K. Tier 4: $100+K.

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim a portion of your session fees back through your health fund. Check with your insurer for specific details.

NDIS

Dietetic sessions are available to self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants with dietetic funding in their plan. NDIS sessions are charged per the NDIS price guide 2024. Line items are Capacity Building: Improved Health and Wellbeing, and Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living.

Choosing a Payment Option

I encourage you to choose the payment option that best matches your financial situation. Consider the following factors:

  • Concession Card: If you hold a concession card, the lower fee levels may be most appropriate.

  • Disability: If a disability affects your ability to work or your financial security, Tiers 1 or 2 might be the best fit.

  • Financial Security: If you have savings, minimal debt, and feel financially secure, Tiers 3 or 4 are options to consider.

  • Family Size and Dependents: If you have dependents (children, family members you care for, etc.), you may have additional financial responsibilities. This could influence your choice of a lower fee tier.

  • Unexpected Financial Hardships: If you’re currently facing unexpected financial difficulties (e.g., medical bills, job loss, emergency expenses), it’s okay to choose a lower fee tier until your situation improves.

  • Ongoing Medical or Therapy Costs: If you are already paying for other medical or therapeutic services, you may want to select a fee that ensures you can continue to afford all your necessary care.

  • Flexibility: Remember that your financial situation can change over time. You are welcome to discuss adjusting your fee tier if your circumstances improve or become more challenging.

Why a Sliding Scale?

A sliding scale is designed to ensure that cost isn’t a barrier to accessing care. By offering flexible payment options, I hope to make my services accessible to those who may not otherwise be able to afford it,, while also ensuring that I can continue to provide high-quality care.

If you're unsure which payment option is right for you or have any questions about the sliding scale, please don't hesitate to reach out.
